Süss Riesling in LCBO Vintages
The patio might have to wait for warmer weather, but you can still enjoy the taste of summer with, Süssreserve Riesling, our favourite summer wine. Available now in LCBO Vintages across Ontario for $14.95 (258806).
What does “Süssreserve” mean?
It’s a German winemaking technique producing a well balanced off-dry Riesling. At harvest, a portion of the juice pressed from the grapes is left unfermented, known as “süss“, (up to 20% in some vintages) and is then added back to the finished dry fermented Riesling. This adds natural acidity, balances the sweetness, and lowers the alcohol, while adding a natural fresh and zesty taste. Perfect for the patio, backyard or deck – it’s best served well-chilled and makes an ideal partner to fresh summer salads, goat cheese crostini’s, Thai cuisine, and mild curry dishes.
André Proulx rated the 2015 Süssreserve Riesling at 4.5 stars and has this to say, “The süssreserve from Rosewood is always something to look forward to, but this year is truly outstanding. Perfectly balanced acidity with a nice touch of sweetness on the finish.”
